Too many opinions! Too few who want to hear them!

Everybody, I mean, everybody has an opinion, and usually it's negative. When did it become okay to spout what you feel all the time? Someone takes a nice vacation, and you've got a problem b/c the economy is shot and not everyone can take one. Somebody writes a human interest story and you're griping b/c a period is missing or b/c the links within the article are invalid. Give it a rest already. What happened to: "If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all?" What ever happened to that little nugget, huh? Oh, and yeah, I get it--freedom of speech and expression and all that jazz. Yeah, yeah, save it. Some people only thrive when they are negative. Maybe it makes them feel empowered or something. Who knows. I just know that when a person posts pictures of their new baby nursery, filled with excitement and glee, and the negative comments start rolling in about their indifference or dislike of the wallpaper or color palette, something ain't right. It's a new little being come into the world, people. That's worth celebrating! Bask in that mother' or father's happiness. Who cares if you don't like the changing table.

I don't know--just keep it to yourself sometime. I know it's your right, but that doesn't mean it's "alright" to blast in cyberspace. Geez.

And yes, this, too, is an "opinion" I'm expressing about the notion of negative opinions. Isn't life ironic?

I so hear you on this great opinion of yours. This is my opinion too but I think some that seem to always have to comment in some type of negative way, tend to believe that they are giving "Advice that wasn't asked for. Its like this need for them to give this advice even though it wasn't warranted nor asked for. Its like they have this need to always feel right in their opinions. Yes freedom of speech can be throw out there like a dollar bill thrown at a stripper but the difference is one was a freedom given to you by the government to say what you want but not always when you want to, and one is a choice on both parts. You decide to throw the money at the stripper and they decide to take it. When it comes to opinions you can throw your opinion at someone but they don't always want it or need it. So instead of being so opinionated maybe one should just stand back and see if the person wants it or needs it, before you (the opinionated one) start dishing out the opinions. (This of course is my opinion.)

Tasha, you are so spot on with this. Randy and I were just talking about the same thing--how some folks just love to give advice and do so without knowing their audience. Sometimes it's best to feel people out b/f rushing off to dispense an opinion or advice. Sure, anyone can mean well, but that does not mean that it's appropriate always, or wanted and warrented as you mentioned. I think the really big issue for me is that I just hate all the negative stuff. I mean it can be really off-the-wall and out there and off-putting. How did people get so pessimistic and vicious? And why even go there? It just leaves a bad taste in my mouth when I read such comments about an political article or YT video or human interest story. Just so much ugliness...

That is so very true T, I try to keep my negativity about something to a minimum because fact is not everyone wants to hear it, and I have come to learn that I can say what I feel with regards to myself, but unless I am asked by someone for my opinion about something I tend to just listen and learn, more then voice what I think. Because fact is its what I think not what someone else wants to hear. I think the ugliness stems from the fact that some opinionated people are hurtful, hateful and down right mean due to the fact that there is something about themselves that they have a problem with or just don't like.
