Ode to the Unspired...

For some reason or another in our lives come the dry spells or patches. Perhaps we've suffered a personal tragedy or setback. Perhaps inspiration has sought out another only to later return. Perhaps there are a million reasons why we are left uninspired to do anything. However, like the changing seasons, so, too, come the ebb and flow of things. What seemed a tideous effort to find inspiration would no longer be a toil. You will want to get out and do something like work in your yard or clean out your gutters or see people or read a new book. You'll feel that zest for life, for living, for renewal, and that's a good thing.

So, to all those of you feeling uninspired today, remember the tides do turn...

I liked this because for me its not so much the inspiration but the drive for me to feel inspired. Its almost as if I have all the inspiration in the world but no real drive to do anything with it. I have come to a turning point in my life where what use to inspire me seems to be draining my life force. And those around me that used to drain me are now very inspiring. So like you I am at this point where instead of being held back by fear, lack of inspiration, or the lack to be inspired, I am pushing forward and gaining new aspects about who I am and what I want.

I'm glad that you've reached this turning point in our life. It's not always easy to get there. Sometimes, it's downright difficult, and some people never reach it. It's just important to know that we all go through funks, and as long as we have life, then there's a hope that things will get better and that we'll find that new passion (or even old one) that drives us further along. I have no answers. I don't know what the future holds, but that's part of the excitement and daringness of it.

That is so very true. for me the changing of the guard came in the form of me just realizing that life isn't going to stop just because I don't have a grip on it, it moves forward and I can either let it consume me or join it and discover new and exciting things. I have decided to discover life instead of life discovering me.

You said something very, very important--life does not stop just because we are in a rut. Yes, it keeps trucking along with or without us. It's up to us to rejoin the living, so to speak, and find meaning where before there may have seemed to be none.

I absolutely love this post - it's just what I needed to read. Just because I'm in a funk, life goes on and its up to me to do as I tell Katelin... pull up my boot straps and get back in the saddle.
Thank you so much:)

So glad that this post has been an encouragement to you, Katelin. I've been going through some difficult personal trials, but day-by-day I just try to keep going. It's almost Spring and with that comes "newness" and "a refreshing." We'd all do well to carry that "renewal" into your own lives.
